In the Vigil, the idea is to create a sense of watching over death. The use of documentary style footage of the artist's sick mother mixed with dark and foreboding characters allude to the apprehension one feels about mortality and explores how fear can translate into everyday living. This project came to fruition in NYC during the post 9/11 atmosphere of fear and shock. I also lost my mother to cancer that same year and felt it necessary to explore the anxiety that was caused by these events.
